The NOC of North Macedonia, through the GAMES project, has developed an action plan to advance gender equality, with a particular focus on enhancing gender representation in leadership positions across all key stakeholders in the Macedonian sports landscape. To build support and capitalize on the momentum of this initiative, the NOC successfully secured funding for two major projects: 365 GE, supported by Olympic Solidarity, and Fair Game: Advancing Gender Equality within Sport Policies in North Macedonia, funded by the EU through the IPA call.

Implemented actives aligned with the NOC of North Macedonia's Action Plan.
Both projects are fully aligned with the NOC’s strategic plan, and their activities are already being implemented. Achievements to date include hosting multiple leadership workshops aimed at empowering women and creating a pipeline for future executive roles, providing gender-sensitization training for senior management across all national federations, running several campaigns to raise awareness about gender equality, and organizing a special event to celebrate and increase the visibility of women in sports. Looking ahead, the NOC plans to introduce a sub-granting program for 15 national federations, enabling them to develop and implement action plans focused on promoting gender equality.

Implemented activities
1. Leadership courses targeting more than 120 young women in sport

2. Workshops on gender based discrimination targeting more than 20 national sport federations

3. Campaign on raising awareness on gender equity ( one video campaign done, an other one is in the process of developing)

4. Gala night to celebrate women’s achievement in sport

5. One event in entrepreneurship, targeting economic independence of women in sport industry

Upcoming activities
1. Sub granting of 15 national sport federations on the topic of gender equality

2. Mentorship for implementation of their respective action plans

Stay tuned to find out more on the legacy of the project.
