The Czech Olympic Committee held its National Launch Event in Athens on the 13th of November 2023.

The Czech Olympic Committee (CZ NOC) is a partner of the Erasmus+ project “Guidance to Achieve More Equal leadership in Sport” (GAMES).

CZ NOC organised the National Launching Event on 13 November 2023. This was attended by relevant national and regional sport organisations, as well as policy makers, among others. The National Launching Event was attended by more than 55 participants representing sports federations, clubs, media, policy makers and state departments, such as National Sport Agency or the Government office.

The National Launching Event presented the GAMES project, its objectives and relevance. Accordingly, it aimed to present its main deliverables including the Baseline Study and its main finding on gender equality at the national level, the Global Pool of Actions and CZ NOC’s National Action Plan. Therefore, the current challenges in the realm of gender equality in leadership were addressed through open discussion which in turn allowed for the development of cooperation between relevant national/regional stakeholders.

After the presentation of the CZ NOC´s National Action Plan and open discussion, the programme proceeded with a panel discussion. The guests of the panel discussion were an ex Vice-President of the Czech Equestrian Federation, Vice-President of Czech Chamber of Commerce, Director of the Department on Gender equality of the Government Office and a Member of the Equal Opportunities in Sport Commission of the CZ NOC. Thanks to the diverse backgrounds in which the guests operate, the discussion was really beneficial.

Hence, the National Launching Event aimed to share CZ NOC’s National Action Plan whilst further promoting knowledge and information regarding the current situation and foreseen future actions in terms of gender equality in leadership positions. Besides, the National Launching Event served as a springboard to develop measures to promote gender equality in sport leadership in the national ecosystem whilst being a valuable opportunity to further encourage networking and cooperation among relevant stakeholders.
