Equal Rights in Sport is pleased to be a partner in the new Erasmus+ Project named “Guidance to Achieve More Equal leadership in Sport” (GAMES)

Equal Rights in Sport – represented by the CEO Kari Fasting – is a vital player within the project consortium as it brings unique knowledge and added value in terms of gender equality in sport. Kari Fasting’s research has been concerned with various interests related to “equality and diversity” in sport across all EU Member States with a focus on sport and exercise in the lives of girls and women. Accordingly, with more than 300 publications and several presentations as a speaker on different themes related to women and sport in the academic, Olympic and EU arenas.

GAMES is a 24-month project, which focuses to improve gender equality in the key leadership and decision-making positions of the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) by promoting structural changes in their governance, enhancing the understanding of the existing cultural barriers and encouraging the NOCs to work with their member federations to create a sustainable change.

Within the project, Equal Rights in Sport will support the consortium to identify current practices implemented by NOCs in terms of gender equality in leadership positions at the EU level, as well as the current barriers encountered by NOCs to implementing existing gender policies and recommendations. Accordingly, Equal Rights in Sport will support partner NOCs in designing strategic Action Plans based on key areas of intervention for each partner NOC identified in the “Global Pool of Actions”.

Hence, Equal Rights in Sport has the knowledge and experience in applied research in the field of gender equality that will ensure that the design, implementation and analysis of the baseline study and its applicability to all partner countries. It will also provide high-quality research and the application of the findings to strategic Action Plans and related Global Pool of Actions.

Under the guidance of the project coordinator - the EOC EU Office – Equal Rights in Sport is going to implement the GAMES project together with I TRUST Sport and 8 NOCs (Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, North Macedonia and Turkey). Furthermore, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will also act as a key player in terms of promoting and disseminating the project deliverables across all NOCs worldwide.
