DOSB makes important progresses with the implementation of its National Action Plan!
In September 2024, the first conference dedicated to women, diversity, and gender equality (WDGE) was held, with representatives from DOSB’s 101 member organizations participating. A key outcome was the adoption of the resolution “Strengthening Democracy through Women, Diversity, and Gender Equality,” aimed at countering the rise of right-wing and anti-feminist ideologies.
By November 2024, the first comprehensive report on WDGE was published, highlighting gender representation at various levels within the DOSB and its member organizations, among coaching license holders, and in the Paris Olympic Games delegation. The report also reviewed measures taken by member organizations to promote women in leadership, female coaches, and the LGBTIQ+ community, alongside efforts to address female athletes’ health and safe sport.
Throughout the year, the DOSB partnered with “Klischeefrei im Sport” to promote a cliché free sports culture, amongst others by publishing fact sheets on equal play and sponsorship, an e-learning course, and a Girls’ Day project introducing female students to the male-dominated field of motorsports. The DOSB also released several trainings and e-learning offers on the topic of safe sport. In December, the DOSB General Assembly adopted the Safe Sport Code.
Looking ahead, a pilot project with “Chef:innensache” aims to introduce an external diversity panel, while recommendations are being developed for the inclusion of trans*, inter*, and non-binary people in sports. Plans also include a project focusing on women with migrant backgrounds in sports, pending funding.
